Eating humble pie? Nothing of the sort! Heimbach at the iba 2018

For the third time Heimbach Specialities exhibited at the leading world trade fair of the baking, pastry, and snack industry, which takes place once every three years. More than 77,000 visitors from 170 countries found their way to Munich this year.

Products for the food and drinks industry must meet sophisticated customer requirements: a long shelf life, optimised product yield and the highest degree of food safety. And this within rather unfavourable conditions, such as high operating temperatures, a humid environment and sticky/oily dough. The effects of mechanical and chemical cleaning in particular have a significant influence on the service life and the characteristics of the food belt.

At our exhibition booth Heimbach Specialities presented amongst other things food belts with improved product characteristics which satisfy the high demands of our customers. As in previous years our colleagues were able to identify varied and extensive potential uses for our products. Quite a few visitors were looking for solutions for special applications that we had not even considered yet. And once again this showcases the strength of the TTX group, which offers a wide range of product qualities and technologies and is flexible in its implementation. It is no coincidence that we advertise ‘tailor-made solutions’!

What else was there at the iba? Of course – the topic concerning the future is digitalisation: This massive trend has long arrived at the bakery scene as well and therefore numerous offerings for digital business processes and sale room designs could be found in Munich. In one of the exhibition halls a multimedia event had its premiere: With the aid of VR (Virtual Reality) glasses and 350 degree videos visitors were able to walk around the bakeries of renowned master bakers from various countries.

Talking of the future: In contrast to the severely buffeted textile industry the niche market of technical textiles has enjoyed a strongly growing demand for a few years now. And this for good reason: Technical textiles have many functional characteristics – the focus is not on aesthetics but on improving characteristics. And in order to capture new fields of application and to develop future-proof manufacturing processes, in Germany alone 16 textile research institutes work towards this end.

Therefore we at Heimbach Group look to the future with optimism: With our TTX sites in Belgium, Germany, England, and Italy we supply a market that is and will be in the future characterised by a high pace of innovation as well as structural change.
